Phelan Good Stables Texas Hill Country horse boarding, training, sales, and lessons.Our facilities are located on a grassy knoll on Wolf Creek between Fredericksburg, Texas and Kerrville, Texas.

 MARCO RAMIREZ is the full-time manager of the Fredericksburg facilities. Marco has worked and trained with Rory Phelan for the past seven years. (Please refer to the Manager/Trainer tab.) Marco is a very dedicated, trustworthy, reliable and efficient trainer and Phelan Good Stables is proud to have him managing the Fredericksburg operation.

 RORY PHELAN, the owner of Phelan Good Stables, has expanded his services and currently is training and putting on clinics and ropings at American West Quarter Horse facilities in Scottsdale, Arizona. Rory is an active member of the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association (NSPRA). Rory and his partner, placed third in the team roping world standings in 2008 and Rory's horse was awarded honors for head horse of the year. Rory was a proud member/participant of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association (PRCA) for over 15 years. Rory is an expert horseman with extensive equine experience and knowledge. Rory grew up on a working horse & cattle ranch and won his first roping competition at age 5. Rory has resided in the Texas Hill Country for over ten years and has presented several roping clinics throughout Colorado, Kansas, California, and Arizona.

Phelan Good Stables specializes in:

  • Breaking colts

  • Starting cutting horses, race horses, western pleasure, and barrel horses

  • Fixing problem horses

  • Training horses for pleasure riding, roping (headers/healers), team penning

  • Boarding in our stables or turnout

  • Horse sales

  • Or just riding horses to keep them fit and exercised.


Note that this colt has only 60 days training on him. 

  

Rory's ability to train carriage horses is shown in the picture to the right, having gotten this yearling, Lucky, broke to pull a cart. 

Lucky's so gentle he performs on verbal command.  Lucky is part of the equine therapy program with Horse-Connection.
